Over the past ten years Annabel Berry has been involved in developing local tourism ventures with the tourism authorities and through this has seen the importance to developing sites to increase spend in our local community.
Having tourism developments that encourage visitation and there after spend on accommodation, hospitality and retail is critical to the ongoing economic development of the town and wider district.
Annabel has been involved in some important local tourism projects that speak to the heritage and culture of the community and enhance visitation throughout the year.
The Oamaru Blue Penguin colony development saw an enhanced day time offering for those visiting the colony outside penguin viewing hours. Included in the development was a cinema experience, nature calls of the penguins, interactive displays, kids room and display panels.
The Whitestone City project was supported by MBIE to provide a local attraction that spoke to the Victorian heritage of the Harbour St precinct.
Both projects provide visitors with another reason to not only visit but stay longer and therefore invest more in the district.
